Page 2 WHEEL OF ROTARY FEBRUARY 3, 1950 TODAY'S PROGRAM Ed Converse, Program Chairman, announces that today's program speaker is Jerry Pettis, Assistant to the President of United Air Lines, who will speak on "Air Safe-ty and Modern Commercial Transpor-tation by Air." * * * * * * * * * * * * * LAST WEEK Lorin Cross and his fifty-five piece High School Band provided a fine program. We will bet that Ed turned in a XXX (gocd) or XXIX (very good) report to the COG. * * * * * * * * * * * * * COMING On March 16th, wc are to be favored by a personal appearance of one of the West Coast's outstanding Rotarians, ALMON E. ROTH, former Comptroller of Stanford University; Past District Governor of eld Dis-trict #2; Past President of Rotary International! Manager of Water-front Employers Association, and personal friend of cur Program Chairman — whose topic is yet to be announced* BOB WILLSTEAD We are indeed sorry to receive a letter of resignation from Bob Willstead. Bob has been right on top in attendance for several years and has certainly been a "good" Rotarian. HARRY MILLER The "Hheel" reporters called at the Clark County hospital yesterday and found that Harry is getting along O.K. However, no visitors for now, please. * * * * * * * * * * * TERN AND TONA That "Travel Agency Willis" is trying some of his own medicine right now. Vern and Tona are on a "Cook's" (oh, oh, that's a bad word); anyway, they are on a fast trip to London, Paris, Zurich, Rome, and maybe Madrid and Lisbon. * * * * * * * * * * * PALM DESERT We have received a letter from Bob Sturgeon, Secretary of the Palm Desert Rotary Club. He says we have a good publication but we have slight-ed Palm Desert by not including them as a nearby make-up. They are only 1-3/4 hours from Las Vegas (you guess-ed it.') by air. We are invited down to visit at Palm Desert. We hereby pass the ball to Program Chairman Ed Converse* *to* p*la*n *s*om*et*hi*n g. MAXWELL KELCH We are sorry to report that our newscaster Max is ill at M s home on Sunny Place. A proposal has been made to fill the classification of "Restaur-ants. " c C o y WHEEL OP ROTARY Page ROTARIAN INFORMATION Chairman Sully Sutherland held another meeting last night for new members WAYNE KIRCH, JACK YOUNG and PHIL SHIPLEY. Marion Earl, Leo McNamee, Harry Allen and Sully Suth-erland were the principal speakers, assisted by Len Fayle and A l l ^ Laws on. * * * Pop Squires and Delphine are in Carson City for a few days with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. C. C. Boyer. * * * Program Chairman Ed Converse has in process of arrsjngements one cf the best programs of many years — an inter-city meeting - which the Phoenix Club is putting on the pro-gram here February 23rd. Phoenix Club President Gecrge F. Miller has accepted our President Len's invitation; Bonanza Air Lines is preparing a two planeload excur-sion for the Phoenicians; cars will be needed at the airport to bring the visitors to our meeting, and to take them around town. As for the program itself, it may be slightly controversial, in that water and power, or their lack, may be mentioned, we presume, as seen from the other side of the Colorado River. Because of this interest in the sale of falling water, several Boulder City Rotarians have indi-cated a desire to attend. PIC LARHODR To you absentees, because you are probably the only ones that receive an occasional copy of the best "exchange" Rotary paper we receive, "Scandal Sheet"., the editor of the "Scandal Sheet" has been nominated for "Director of R.I." from Zone #1. He is a member of Graham, Texas, Rotary District #186. Best of luck, Pic! 'Wish we cculd stuff the ballot for you. Adcoclt, OrenKlng"OK."'23C.M PP.ATIIP.XAt. ORGAXtXATlOXS ARl-l1e7nC.
