ORDINANCE NO. 96 An Ordinance of the City of Las Vegas to compel the attendance at meetings of the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas by members thereof. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: Section 1. It shall be and is hereby declared to be the duty of each and every member of the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas to attend at least one regular meeting of said Board each month, and also to attend each special meeting thereof upon the notice thereof being given to him. Provided, however, that the absence of such member may be excused on account of sickness of himself or of members of his immediate family residing in said City of Las Vegas, which renders his absence reasonably necessary; and provided further, that such absence may be excused where prior to such meeting leave for such absence may have been given him by said Board of Commissioners or by the Mayor, or by the Mayor pro tem, while acting Mayor, and provided further, no such absence shall extend over the period of sixty days. Section 2. In the event of the absence of any member of said Board at any regular or special meeting, except as provided for in Sect ion 1, the said Board of Commissioners in the event a quorum of such Board is present, or the Mayor or Mayor Pro Tem while acting as Mayor in the event a quorum of such Board is not present, may by order direct the City Marshal or any City Policeman of the City of Las Vegas to forthwith apprehend such absent member and bring him forthwith before the said Board, and such officer after bringing such member before the Board shall compel his attendance during the entire session of such Board. Section 3. It shall be the duty of such City Marshal or Policeman, as the case may be, on receiving the order provided in Section 2, of this Ordinance to forthwith execute the same, and after bringing such member before the said Board to compel his attendance during the entire session of said Board. Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and adoption and publication for one week (one issue) in Las Vegas Review a weekly newspaper published in said City of Las Vegas. Passed and adopted on the second reading this 6th day of December A. D. 1922 upon the following vote: Commissioners Arnold. Gorton. and Hodgens voting aye.
