Water Dist. to one-third of the Henderson water supply from Lake Mead should be ready for Gov, Charles Rus­sell’s signature within 10 days, as a result of discus­sions concluded yesterday at the opening session of the Colorado River Commission meeting.; The comwiTSsioh meets for its second and closing session today, i during which the controversial Henderson homesites purchase i proposals are to be argued. In a short meeting with water district directors yesterday, the i commission adopted a resolution | empowering the southern Nevada I committee to complete work on I two contracts to permit the dis- ; | trict to take over the water sys- : tern. It was explained that the final contracts will be subject to sev-ijeral months* delay, ' pending a revaluation of assets at the plant by the General Services Adminis­tration of the* government. To keep the water district pro- i ject progressing, the assistant at- j torney general for the CRC, Alan ! Bible, was instructed to draw up I an interim contract turning over to the district one-third o f the capacity of'the 40-inch line from the lake under pressure of three pumps, which amounts to ap­proximately the 10 million gal­lons daily sought by the district. | The interim agreement, it was i learned, also will allow the dis- j j tract first refusal to purchase the system, and has been ap­proved by bonding attorneys.! 1 Bible-reported that this contract ! should be completed and ready for the governor’s signature with, in 10 days, . . He explained that the firm was ? long active as operator of the 'Basic plant for.the government, and has through knowledge of the water system.,.. , Campbell said that Montgom­ery representatives will go into session next week with Union Pacific experts to reconcile fig­ures of the . water district and the Las ttegas Land and Water Company, in preparation for final negotiation to take over the city system. In addition to this action, the river commission held two exec­utive sessions which excluded everyone excepting the commis­sioners themselves. They reported at the close of their secret sessions, they had agreed among other things to set aside 19 acres for future high school development, They said they had also ac­cepted an offer by George Von Tobel to make a survey of the townsite. In addition, the commissioners agreed to sell the plant machine shop to O. J. Scherer; sell land to churches at nominal cost, and authorized the plant manager to sell the Townsite Drug Co., the barber shop, the recreation cen­ter and the.
