V . t las Vegas, Nov. 22, 1919 Arthur Maguire, 3Sn'gr. M. of W,# XjOS Angeles', California, Dear Sir!- I beg to acknowledge receipt of yOur letter under date of Nov. 18th, file Bo. 727, and note the estimate which you quote for the carrying of steam from the shops over to the Company Rooming House, and on account of the cost of same 1 suppose we will have to abandon the idea, hut just at present I am in the throes of a great deal of trouble as we have not had ahy fire at the rooming house for the past ten days. Have had to have about one half of the flues drawn and a patch about 2 ft. square put on the bottom of the boiler. It has been mighty inconvenient and a great deal of complaint from the company roomers, and I am sincerely hoping that we will be able to fire up the boiler by tomorrow morning. The boiler men and the machinists have been working on this night and day ever sinee we were required to start the job, and I am advised by the boiler foremen that this boiler will possibly last us with extra care during the rest of this winter, but we will be compelled to install a new boiler next year, and I hope by that .'timet, we can find it a mubh cheaper job in carrying steam from the shops over the rooming house than to renew our present heating plan.
