October 19, 1949 W 23-1-C Mr. L. A. Barnes c/o Manager of Properties Omaha, Nebraska Dear Mr. Barnes: In accordance with your verbal request while you were in Las Vegas last week, I am enolosing herewith a copy of the outline of the existing water supply system from Lake Mead to BMI. This line was conatructed about 1942, when material and labor costs were considerably less than they are now. Also enclosed is a statement compiled by the State Engineer Showing withdrawals from the Las Vegas Valley in acre feet for the past 24 years. He estimates the re-charge rate to be about 30,000 acre-feet annually, and some concern was felt when the withdrawals exceed the re-charge rate in 1946. While the withdrawals decreased slightly in 1947, the 1948 estimate was 34,000 acre-feet. This applies of course to the total wells in the Valley, some 400, of which the Water Company has eleven. Mr. L. A. Bamea Page 2 Oct. 19, 1949 W 23-1-C If I can be of any further service, please write me. Very truly yours, A. M. Folger
