    Economics Committee meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on November 8,1999 at the home of Soror Billie Rayford. This will be a joint meeting with Omega Psi Phi.
    NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST FOR YOUNG INVESTORS
    Stein Roe Mutual Funds is sponsoring the Fourth Annual National Essay Contest. Stein Roe Young Investor Fund seeks to provide long-term growth of capital while helping teach young people about money and investing.
    1.
    What are the awards?
    A total of $25,500 in Stein Roe Young Investor or Stein Roe Advisor Young Investor Fund shares will be awarded. There will be three prizes awarded at each grade level.
    First Place = $5,000
    Second Place = $2,500 Third Place = $1,000

    Contest Eligibility
    Contest is open to residents of the United States and its protectorates, enrolled in grades five, six or seven in elementary or middle school, except where prohibited by law. Children of employees of the Liberty Financial Companies, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and advertising or promotional agencies are not eligible to participate.
    3.
    Essay Requirements

    Answer this question in about 250 words: What company's stock would you recommend that the portfolio managers of the Young Investor Fund purchase? Give three reasons why.

    Entries must be neatly hand-printed, typewritten, or computer processed.

    Entries on computer disk or submitted via the Internet or fax will be disqualified.

    Incomplete, illegible or mutilated entries will be disqualified.

    Make and retain a copy of your essay for yourself.

    Judging Criteria

    Content - quality of thinking on the topic.

    Writing Style - clarity of expressions and descriptive words.

    Writing Mechanics - grammar, spelling, punctuation and neatness.

    Entry Period - Entries must be received by Stein Roe Mutual Funds (the Sponsor) between October 1, 1999 and the close of business, 5 p.m. Central time, December 31, 1999. Entries post-marked after December 31,1999, will not be accepted. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries, or mail or printing errors.
