EDUCATION
IVY READING AKAdemy PILOT PROGRAM - This committee will implement a kindergarten through third grade reading initiative. The goal is to focus on early learning and mastery of basic reading skills by the end of B|ird grade. This is a Spirit of AKA Signature Program.
THE YOUNG AUTHORS PROGRAM - This committee will design a series of activities/workshops to assist young children in the development of writing skills. Children will be given an opportunity to write a book, submit the books for entry in a regional competition. The goal is to have the book published as part of an anthology by Metropolitan Teaching and Learning Company, The published Young Authors will have the opportunity to participate in a book signing at the national conference in 2004 and 2006. This is a Spirit of AKA Signature Program.

Soror I Got Contacts will contact the editor of the AKA News to set up training on media relations.

Soror Personality and Soror Tell Me This will conduct phone survey of local radio stations to see how they would use locally produced PSAs.

Soror Tenacious agreed to get publicity to the office by August 1 regarding the Labor Day fund raising event in Tea Rose Park.
4.
Soror Chairperson will meet with the Executive Committee about getting all committees to bring public relations material to the P.R. committee in a timely manner.
5.
Next meeting is scheduled for April 15, 2004 at the home of Soror Welcome.
