Els Iob| rangs flan was for tin operation of a total of seven walls. His proposal was that one future wall be drille<J<^Lj the Cutting property ana two wells on the Pile property, is a resalt of hr. Orsens** report work Order 1517 was approved which authorised substantially all of the item* reoommen&ed in his report, including the drilling of wslls 1 sad 4 and the purchase of 200 additional acres of water-bearing land. I do not have the date of the boric Order hut Z believe it was issued in the gall of 1939. 4 letter from hr. Bracken to Cher lee yft&fiss of November 1* 1941 in ter. Ad duns ’ file Ko. 1—940 indieetee that in 1940 b» endeavored to purchase the Cutting property hut wee unable to do so. I do not know what immediate stops he took to purchase the Pike property hut his latter of October 29, 1919 commenting on the Greene report, found in hr. .troughs file Ho. 7114 Las Vegas - Pater facilities, Voices 2, indicates he approved of the eventual purchase of the pike property. Mr. Bracken*a letter to Mr. Adssui of Hovember 1, 1941 indicates that in July 1941 Mr. Bracken bought the Ous liodsoa property consisting of 120 acres st tar sale. This property had not been specifically mentioned in either of the engineering reports abovs mentioned but X presuns that Mr. Bracken considered that it m desirable for water production and decided to buy it at a bargain under the authority of ’cork order 1517 of June 12, 1940 in which there was au expended balance &r acquisition of land, the tax title may have been taken In the name of the Pioneer Title Insurance and Trust Company• % quiet title action to perfect the title of this lend was brought in its nans which mas handled by Mr. MoHnmcc and Inter Mr. Coary. a quiet title judgment was finally entered into in 1943 and la June 1948 the Title Oompany conveyed the property to LdhdL* However, it is important to bear In wind that this property was originally purchased in 1941 under authority of work order 1517* 142/ kr. Bracken * s t Ucj^ai-l-l apparently deals with the purchase of water-bearing"land and «ay furnish additional information concerning the land in question. X obtained the rest of the story from Mr. strong’s file So. 7114, Volume 2 - Las Vegas eater Facilities. On October 17, 1941 welter Bracken reoommen&ed to hr. Jeffers that the Pike property be purchased, that it was actively being considered by subdividers* hr. Etrong also recommended the purchase of this property and on October 10, 1941 Mr. Jeffers approved the purchase of 160.acres of the iko property, the purchase to be charged to the vgj .expended balance of work order 1517-1* I think the foregoing clearly shows that all of the additional purchases of land made subsequent to the purchase of the Btswart Bench la 1901 ware made as a result of recommendations by either HeIson Taylor or Mr* Greene and were made for the purpose of expanding water production. At the time these purchases were made the Railroad Company only hod in production the Borings and wells no. 1 and Ho. 2. Ihs exact location of future wells was not thsn known and wslls could have been thereafter drilled on all of the various paresis*
