I agree.J^ouis (Prima with Qia ~Mau>ne Sam jBuieraand ike OYilneaes Capsule Biography on JIMMY VINCENT (Drums) Bom and schooled in Boston, Mass., Jimmy Vincent started out in the field of music asa percussionist at the age of 12. Amazingly enough, a short while later, following some brief training in small groups around the New England area, he joined the big band of Louis Prima - and followed a full decade of touring on one nigbtert, theatres and c! ubs through the 40% and early 50's. His solid foundation as a front line drummer was set - and he set out on his own, heading a top money-making, musi^comedy quartet. Through the last decade, Vincent performed on practically every major TV show, including Ed Sullivan, Perry Como, Judy Garland, etc., He not only developed as a solist drummer - but as a brilliant visual comic. His hilarious "change of mask" routine was admittedly copied by the late Ernie Kovacs and utilized by the latter in various forms on many TV specials. He continued most successfully into 1961, and following the breakup of his own group he re-joined the Prima organization at Hotel Sahara in Las Vegas. This time, though, as a specialist in a small, very selective entertaining band. Today Vincent plays a strong part in each performance of the Prima show, "caressing his drums" like nobody else in the business plus offering his natural and schooled pixie^like comedy antics that are oftentimes show-stoppers. 279 E.
