He apparently died of a heart attack. Bridge, who served as Director of Special Events-Casino at the hotel for the past three years, suddenly collapsed while playing tennis. Paramedics were imnediately summoned and arrived minutes later, but all efforts to revive him failed. The hotel executive was married and the father of four children. A military veteran, Bridge served in combat infantry units in World War II and held a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. As a Lt. Colonel, he served as an aide to General Omar N/ Bradley for five years. His association with Bradley was so close that he served as one of the technical advisors on the picture "Patton". Bridge, a native of California, had extensive experience in the field of hotel sales and casino-related activities since moving to Las Vegas 10 years ago. In addition to Bridge's prior experience as Director of Sales and as a Casino Executive at the Sands for several years, he served as Director of Sales for the Hacienda Hotel and the Sheraton Hotel chain. He attended Stanford University and graduated from the University of California. Bridge was an outstanding golfer who won countless amateur tournaments over the past 40 years. He made the U. S. Open as an amateur in 1955, was invited by the late Bing Crosby to play in many Pebble Beach tournaments, and in 1972 was runner-up in the Nevada State Amateur Chanpionship. In 1973 and 1976, he qualified and played in the USGA Amateur (senior) in Chicago and Denver. Last year, Bridge was named as the 1978 Golfer in the Lodi, California Sports Hall of Fame, his hone town. -30- THE &dnds so far ahead it will always be new!
