Mr. E. E. E. fe. B. SEP 19 1349 Bennett: i S# Las Vegas - September 16 , 19^9 . n W 23-8 v» * § ; p f | ( cc Mr. Wm. Reinhardt) M j 4 Referring to your letter of September 6th regarding proposed imposition of fee by City of Las Vegas for use of streets and alleys. Our study of fire hydrant charges made in other Nevada cities indicates the following: FIRE HYDRANT CHARGES - NEVADA CITIES CITY CHARGE FEE PAID FOR USE OF STREETS AND ALLEYS Reno $5 *00 per month per hydrant None Sparks $2.00 P er Month per hydrant None Carson #5.00 P er month P er hydrant None Ely |5.00 per month per hydrant * None Winnemucca$5*00 to $7*16 per month per hydrant None * Changed to $3.75 per hydrant in 19^2. While no response, as yet, has been received from Tonopah our previous canvass of water rates indicates they charge $7.50 per hydrant, but theimater rates are uniformly big&errthan most Nevada cities. The charge at Winnemucca was $372. *K> per month for the original portion of the town where there were 52 hydrants, plus $5.00 per month for other hydrants. In this study we have given no consideration to Elko, Lovelock and Fallon because it is our understanding these water systems are municipally owned and they could allocate any charge they wished to fire hydrants.
