    3. July 6, 1943 Nevertheless the person actually employed for this position was employed at a rate o f #176 per month, which rate has not been Increased. One of the clerk-stenographers covered by the above mentioned application was employed on Deoember 1 , 1942, at the #160 per month rate and has received no increase slnoe her employment. I believe the foregoing information will justify the proposed salary increases covered by the application pending before you, and it will be greatly appreciated if you will take' early action on the application because the employment situation of the applicant is now critical. The heaviest burden placed upon the Water Company is during the simmer months, when there is a great increase in the consumption of water in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it is essential that the present force of the Company be maintained intact* Because of competition in the labor market at Las Vegas,Nevada, the management finds it extremely difficult to retain employees of the class mentioned in the application, and is extremely desirous of having the application for the proposed increases granted. Very truly yours, E. E. Bennett ECRiMS * I talked to Mr. Kleinsorge by long distance telephone today, and he stated that upon receipt of the information contained in this letter he would be able to have the application for increase approved and will handle the matter promptly.
