Las Angeles, April 23, 1927 20-6 Mr. F* H. Knickerbockeri Supplementing ray letter April 22 and referring to Mr* Armstrong*® letter April 20 relative to water situation at Las Vegas, Nevada: I did not receive a copy of Mr* McHamee*3 letter April 4, at which time he advised Hr. Armstrong that the State of levada will require accurate measurement of the water used In connection with Application lo. 7200, Railroad Company and Application No. 7201, Las Vegas Land and Water Company* However, recently a representative of this Office and our Water Service Supervisor have gone over the situation and concur in the method of measurement as set forth in Mr* Armstrong1 s letter April 20 and my letter April 22* Owing to the arrangement of pipe lines at the intake and the absence of a reservoir, it is not desirable to install a meter at the intake to measure total water in pipe lines and another meter at the end of the 16H main line to measure water furnished the LVL and f Co*, as the cost of the two large meters would practically equal the cost of the recommended arrangement and would not furnish information covering the amount used through the various distributing lines* If the amount, 3,658,000 gallons per day, which can flow through the main pipe line is not used, the water will back up In the settling basin and overflow into Las Vegas creek* ibis
