    V On or prior to the sale date Railroad Companies shall disconnect all of their distribution lines connecting at the a-bove numbered points with the transmission and distribution lines to be sold to the District except the distribution line connect­ing at point marked 2. The District agrees that said existing line, connecting at point marked 2, or in the event Railroad Com­panies elect to disconnect said line, such other line or lines as may be agreed upon by the parties hereto and of an aggregate ca­pacity not exceeding the capacity of said existing line, may re­main or be connected to the water transmission and distribution lines of the District for the purpose of providing Railroad Com­panies with emergency standby water service. In the construction of said future connections and in the maintenance and operation of said existing connection or future connections the Railroad Companies shall be required to take such steps as are required by sound engineering practice to prevent damage to or interruption of water service to consumers or facilities within the areas then b e ­ing served by the water transmission and distribution lines of the District. It is also agreed that the property to be sold to the District hereunder shall not include any service connections and water lines owned by customers heretofore served under private contract by Railroad Companies. Such privately owned service connections and water lines are shown in yellow color on Exhibit K The property to be sold to the District hereunder shall not include any portion of the salvaged material from water p r o ­duction, transmission, storage or distribution facilities retired by First Parties prior to the sale date. Section 4 . With respect to the lands referred to in sub-paragraph (a) of Section 1 hereof the First Parties agree that (a) In the event that First Parties, pursuant to Section 12 hereof, shall elect that said lands are to be conveyed by the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Com­pany as grantor to the District as grantee, the deed to the District shall contain a covenant in the form set forth as Exhibit MB" restricting the drilling of water w e l l s .
