Vegas Urged To Resume Water Ration LAS VEGAS (Special) ? The city water rationing program in effect last year has been urged for 1954 by E. E. Bennett, general solicitor for the Union Pacific Rail-road. Tom Campbell, president of the Las Vegas Valley Water District, disclosed. Campbell at the same time announced that the water company has proposed immediate development of additional production facilities to implement the supply of local water. The water company proposal is based around a plan submitted by J. M. Montgomery, Las Vegas Valley Water District engineer, who suggested that two additional water wells be drilled immediately as the solution to eliminate a drastic water shortage in the area this Summer. Montgomery also said that by equipping the water company's existing well No. 11 with a deep-well turbine additional water would be made available. MESSAGE Here, in part, is a letter from the UP's general solicitor: "It is obvious that in spite of our proposed plan to drill new wells that the water situation will be very tight from now until those wells are brought on production and turned into our system, which I believe the engineers say will be a matter of 60 days," Bennett pointed out. "Under the circumstances, in order to assure an equitable distribution of water and conserve so far as possible the existing water supply, I would appreciate it if the district would formally request the city commissioners to put in effect as of May 1, the water rationing program that was in effect last year."
