$23 '0~3' LAS VEGAS EVENING REVIEW JOURNAL October 18, 1944 r nii fe !e is 4s j§ n i>s *e s, -d ? 3. le ta fe $o. e fp ;| it Water Wrangle To Be Aired At Joint Parley Plans for a meeting of state, county, city and chamber of commerce officials with members of the public service commission and the Las Vegas Land and Water company were outlined yesterday afternoon at the board of directors meeting of the chamber, and the date was set for N ovember 3, in Las Vegas. The meeting came as an outgrowth of a protest by the land and water company for a well permit which, according to chamber officials, was filed recently with the state engineer’s office. Several questions are to be threshed out at the meeting, it was reported, including whether the water company has filed a blanket protest against all future well drilling in the artesian district; whether the water company feels that further granting of well permits would seriously deplete the water supply in the area; whether the state engineer has determined the limits of well permits which could be granted safely in the artesian belt; what the water company’s views are on the adequacy of the artesian supply; what the water _com-pany’s attitude is regarding the development of a source of supply for the community outside the artesian supply and a discussion of all factual information available from the state engineer and the water company relative to the adequacy of the present artesian supply. Walter R. Bracken, W. H. Guild, E. E. Bennett and Frank Strong, Union Pacific officials, have been requested to represent the railroad company and the water concern, while the state engineer and his assistant, the board of county commissioners, 1 the city board, Basic Magnesium 1 officials and the board of direc- • tors of the chamber, have been invited to the session. o-
