Those voting "Aye” Commissioner Bunker Commissioner Jarrett Commissioner Sharp Commissioner Whipple Mayor Baker Those voting "Nay” None The presiding officer declared the motion carried and the ordinance placed upon its final passage. Commissioner Whipple then moved that said ordinance be passed and adopted as read and as an emergency ordinance. Commissioner Jarrett seconded the motion. The question being upon the passage and adoption of said ordinance the roll was called with the following result: PROPOSED ORDINANCE Liquor to Minors PROPOSED ORDINANCE Moving DEFINITIVE ORDINANCE DELIVERY GENERAL OBLIGATION SEWER BONDS SILVER STATE ELKS CARNIVAL CURB SET BACK DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS POLICE CONVENTION LIQUOR LICENSE Sierra Beer Dist. OAKRIDGE TRACT Street Light Installation Those voting "Aye" Commissioner Bunker Commissioner Jarrett Commissioner Sharp Commissioner Whipple Mayor Baker Those voting "Nay" None The presiding officer thereupon declared that all commissioners having voted in favor thereof, said motion was carried and said ordinance was duly passed and adopted as an emergency ordinance. Commissioner Whipple moved this ordinance be numbered 574. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO SELL INTOXICATING LIQUOR TO MINORS; MAKING THE OWNER RESPONSIBLE FOR SALES MADE TO MINORS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Sharp and Whipple for recommendation. Commissioners Sharp and Whipple committee for recommendation on the proposed Moving Ordinance requested additional time before reporting. At this time the meeting recessed. At the hour of 10:30 P.M. the meeting reconvened with all members present as of the opening session. The City Attorney discussed the need for a definitive ordinance on hotels, motels and apartment hotels. The matter was referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation. Commissioner Whipple moved that one of the City Officials authorized to sign the general obligation bonds be authorized to deliver them to the purchaser, Swabacher & Company in San Francisco. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Jarrett moved the request of the Silver State Elks to hold a carnival October 9 through 19, 1953 either in the Helldorado Village or H and Harrison Street be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Jarrett moved the request of Vance Geigley for curb set back to allow angle parking at 1130-32 South 2nd Street be referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp moved the problem of D.H. Hand, contractor for homes in Boulder Dam Homesite No. 6 regarding connection to sewer on 23rd street be referred to the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved that George Wade, City Engineer, be appointed as Director of Public Works. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes none. Commissioner Jarrett moved that A.H. Kennedy be allowed $350.00 expenses to attend the Police Convention in Detroit and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign the warrant when prepared. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved the action previously taken in this meeting with reference to the application of Saul Margulies, Sierra Beer Distributing applicant for a Wholesale Beverage License, be rescinded and that Mr. Margulies furnish the Commission with a finanicial statement so that the Board can have it to go over at the next meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that C.Van Patten subdivider of Oakridge Subdivision being in default, the City Electrical Department proceed to install the street lights in this tract and the necessary action to collect on this bond be taken. 9-2-53
