AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 468 ADOPTING THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA; BY CHANGING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR APPLICANTS FOR POSITIONS IN THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY: PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section IV, Paragraph I, Subparagraph 1 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of Las Vegas, is hereby amended to read as follows: 1. Each eye must be free from color blindness; one eye must have sign of not less than 20-20 vision, and the other not less than 20-30 without correction. If one eye does not have 20-20 vision, it must be brought to 20-20 through corrective glasses, and be otherwise free from defect. SECTION 2. Section IV, Paragraph I, Subparagraph 4 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of Las Vegas, is hereby amended to read as follows: 4. Applicants must have chest, body and limb measurements in proportion to the normal body of his height and weight. SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinance in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its final reading and adoption, and final publication as in the next section provided. SECTION 5. The City Clerk and Clerk of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas shall cause this ordinance to be published once a week for two successive weeks immediately following its first reading and adoption in the Las Vegas Review Journal, a daily newspaper published in the City of Las Vegas.
