Las Vegas | August 1, 1938 W 10*6~3 Mr* W, R. Johnson, Chief. Clark to Mr* Strong Los Angelos, California Bear Johnson} Referring to your file 1<*7334 of July 29 to Mr* Toland regarding the annual report of later utility to the Public Service Commission of Nevada. Our records check with your figures exactly except in one instance which is the estimated flow from the open spring. Because of the fact that the water from the middle spring is not put "to beneficial use except for irrigation purposes at the ranch, we have not kept as close a oheok on production from this source as we have from the wells and the other two springs. The largest production from the middle spring of which we have & weir measurement in our files is 285 G.P.M. in 1935* In June 1936 this decreased to 246 G.P.M. As long as I can recall, the ©pen spring has never approached the, big spring in the amount of water produced, although the table in your letter indicates the open spring produced 140,000,000 gallons more than the big spring in 1937. The middle spring flows directly into the creek which carries water to the ranch but this ditch la more than two miles long and due to loss through percolation and evaporation in the hot summer months there la little if any water left in the oresk by the time It reaches the ranch. Using a figure of 285 gallons per minute, which is the maximum production according to our records would amount to 149,796,000 gallons per year from this source whloh\in turn would reduce the amount diverted for use at Las Vegas ranch for irrigation purpose® to less than the billion gallons shown in your letter*
