NEWS STANDS Commissioner Peccole moved the request of the Las Vegas Review Journal to place news stands on 5th Street by Woolworths and the National Dollar Store be referred to the City At­torney for an opinion on the legality of this request. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. OPINION ON DOG LEASH The opinion of the City Attorney on the request of the McNeil Tract to be exempt from ORDINANCE the Dog Leash Ordinance was read to the Board. The City Clerk was requested to send Mr. Bert O'Donnell a copy of this opinion. ASSESSMENT DISTRICTS Commissioner Peccole moved that Pershing, Bosworth, Dick and Dawson of Denver be employ- LEGAL ASSISTANCE ed to give the City assistance in the preparation of proceedings for Assessment Districts Nos. 100-16 and 100-17. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. PROPOSED ORDINANCES - Commissioners Bunker and Whipple, committee for recommendation on the proposed amendments Solicitors, Peddlers & to the Solicitors, Peddlers and Itinerant Merchants Ordinances requested additional time Itinerant Merchants before reporting. PROPOSED ORDINANCE- An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 33 OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE BY Taxi PROVIDING FOR THE ADDITION OF NEW SECTIONS REQUIRING THE INSTALLATION OF TAXIMETERS AND BY PROVIDING RATES OF FARE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Peccole for recom­mendation. ASSESSMENT DISTRICT Commissioner Peccole moved the request of J.M. Murphy Construction Co. for partial pay- No. 100-6 ment on Assessment District No. 100-6 in the total amount of $30,552.94 be approved Partial Payment and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign the warrant when prepared. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. BID NO. 52.5 - Tires Commissioner Peccole moved that Bid No. 52.5 for the furnishing of Tires be awarded to the low bidder, U. S. Tire Supply Co. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. BID NO. 52.6 - Batteries Commissioner Bunker moved that Bid No. 52.6 for the furnishing of Batteries be awarded to the low bidder, Cardinal Battery Co. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. RECLASSIFICATION - Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of Dora Lord, Administrative Assistant of Intermediate Steno Clerk the Intermediate Stenographer Clerks be reclassified from Schedule 14 to Schedule 15, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker.
