I agree.12/11/72 FAMED SET DESIGNER ON LIDO STAGE LAS VEGAS--Imagine, for one mind-boggling moment, all the creative talents, materials and workmen needed to stage four, full-scale Broadway musicals, and you have some idea of what is now happening 'backstage at the Stardust Hotel. Work on the gigantic sets for the all-new 10th edition of Lido de Paris is proceeding at break-neck speed to ensure that every bolt, wire and light in each mammoth production number is set for the spectacular's gala premiere, Dec. 28. Overseeing this monumental construction task is famed theatrical set designer Michael Knight, who has taken up 24- hour vigil in and around the Stardust's Cafe Continental. Filling every available inch of backstage flooring and the acres of specially constructed areas adjacent to the showroom, the massive pieces for the 20 new sets, in various stages of completion, are being reproduced in gigantic form from Knight's original drawings and scale models. While dancers, showgirls, choreographers and directors feverishly rehearse the intricate routines developed for the new show, metalworkers, carpenters, painters, electricians and scenic artists busily attend to the myriad details involved in the completion of each phase of set construction. -28-
