Dear S ir: I enclose herewith a copy o f a l e t t e r w r itte n by me on October 17th to J.Ross C lark, Second V ice-P resid en t, r e la t iv e to the maintenance o f the water system at Las Vegas, from which you w i l l see that I have urged upon Mr.Clark the tra n s fe r by the • R ailroad Company to the Las Vegas Land & Water Company a l l land in the v i c i n i t y o f Las Vegas owned by the R ailroad Company, except such as is required by the R ailroad Company fo r r ig h t o f way and s ta tio n grounds, to geth er w ith the water. I have w ritte n M r,Bancroft upon the same subject and have received no re p ly from him which would in d ica te that he was in any way a n tagon istic to the p ro p o sitio n . I submitted the matter p erson a lly to the Executive Committee a t t h e ir meeting held in Los Angeles on November 50th, and now submit the p ro p osition to you at the instance o f the F ir s t V ice P resid en t. fo r us to get a relea se from the Trust Company o f the lands which we have a lrea d y tra n sferred to the Las Vegas Land & Water Company, and that he did not think the Trust Company would be w illin g to re le a s e any more property, but i t would seem as tho Mr.Clark has suggested that i t was rath er d i f f i c u l t
