During the construction of 4 lane highway in South Main S tre e t, the S tate Highway Departments contractor to re out the J * line crossing Main S treet a t Boulder Avenue. This 3“ lin e fed a 2* lin e on the west aide of Main Street serving Ahlavede's building and several other ©©nstsaers. I t was my understanding In conversation with you th at we would run several 1* lin es aerose Mate S treet and oonneot i t to the 2* lino regaining in plane* th is was dono* During your abeenoe Mr. Ahlavede oane to the Vater Office and a fte r gone discussion with Mr# Bell and a© stated he would have to have a 2* lin e across Main S treet even i f he had to pay fo r i t himself# 1 told him we had no authority to run a 2* lin e across there and he said he would furnish the matoriaX and employ a plumber i f we would dig the d itch . This was done. The 2* lin e Is s t i l l in place on the west side of the s tre e t and we have e «• 1* connections leading to i t which. In ny opinion, should furnish adequate volume of water to Mr. Ah&swe&s without the need fo r a separate i® lin e . As long as he agreed to pay for the labor fo r the plumbers time and the m aterial furnished, and we out the ditch and backfilled i t , X do not think we owe anything on the plumbers bill# F. A. Doyle
