Las Vegas, - August 4, 1949 W 23-3-4 Mr, ¥m, Reinhardt: (ce - Mr, E. E. Bennett) Supplementing my letter of even date regarding proposed formal hearing to he held by the Public Service Commission regarding the adequacy of the Las Vegas water supply, I enclose copy of letter from the Fire Underwriters covering a recent investigation of fire protection facilities at Las Vegas, and their recommendations for improvements in the water system, I have discussed this report with the fire chief, and while we are not obligated to follow out in full each of the recommendations, nevertheless our degree of compliance will have a definite bearing on the fire insurance rates in Las Vegas, Generally speaking, we have followed the first five recommendations listed under "Water Supply" with the exception of item 2 , suggesting larger mains in the marcantile district, We can further analyse this subject as soon as the map which he mentions is available.
