Omaha - March 30, 1948 LA-20-6-3 Mr. Frank Strong - Los Angeles: (CC - Mr. D. F. Wengert - Los Angeles Mr. J. L. Irish - Omaha) Your mailgram S-24, file 7334, and our exchange of correspondence in connection with transite pipe, fittings, etc., held at Las Vegas for emergency repairs to the various pipe lines from the reservoir to and including the distribution system in Las Vegas. There appears to be some confusion as to the responsibilities of yourself and Superintendent in regard to maintenance. The production and distribution system from wells and reservoir as far as Main Street is property of Union Pacific Railroad Company, and any materials held for repairs to this portion of the line are property of the Railroad Company and should be handled by the Superintendent. The maintenance and repairs of the system beyond Main Street are the responsibility of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company, and any materials and supplies held for emergency repairs to this part of the system should be turned over to the Las Vegas Land and Water Company and removed from Union Pacific Railroad Company accounts. I suggest you confer with Superintendent and determine the minimum amount of pipe and fittings that should be retained at Las Vegas for these emergency repairs. The amounts held for the Union Pacific portion to be handled as at present, those for the Water Company to be charged to that company and retained in their custody. Balance to be shipped to Store at Pocatello. W. C. Pagjrt]frs VP) <r <? Q*
