Commissioner Bunker moved the permit from the U.S. Department of the Interior for 40 feet wide Highway right-of-way along the Couth boundary of the SE¼ SW¼, Sec. 1, T 21 S, R 61 E, MDB&M be ordered filed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Com­missioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent; none. Commissioner Jarrett moved the application of E.E. Darnell dba Public Safety Pa­trol, 3338 South 5th Street, for a Merchant Patrol license be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Com­missioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: none. Commissioner Whipple moved the resignation of Harold Case as Fire Chief be accepted and a resolution passed commending Chief Case for his time on the Fire Department and spread in the Minutes of this Board. R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Harold Case, has so faithfully and untiringly served the City of Las Vegas for the past 29 years as Chief of the Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Harold Case has contributed much time and effort to the development and improvement of the City of Las Vegas; and WHEREAS, Harold Case ever mindful of the great progress and expansion of the City of Las Vegas, through his efforts and diligence was instrumental in protect­ing the City from disasters by means of fire which helped insure such progress and expansion; and WHEREAS, Harold Case by faithfully performing his duties, has assured the pro­gress and growth of the City of Las Vegas, because of his efforts the protection and welfare of its citizens has been improved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of April, 1953, that said City, by this Resolution, expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Harold Case for his efforts in obtaining these results, and thereby insuring to the citi­zens of Las Vegas, Nevada, the future growth and development of the said city; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Honorable Harold Case. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Com­missioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: none. Commissioner Whipple moved Chief Williams be appointed as Acting Fire Chief and his salary increased. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Com­missioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: none. Commissioner Peccole moved the Las Vegas Child Welfare Board request for the rental of certain City Property be approved and the Lease Rental in the sum of $1.00 per year; said lease to be prepared by the City Attorney be and the same is approved.
