Las Vegas City Election....... Las Vegas, Nevada. May 12, 1923. Mr. W. H. Comstock, General Manager, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Co. Los Angeles, California. Dear Mr. Comstock: Acknowledging your letter of May 11th making inquiry concerning our newly elected Mayor and City Commissioners. The Mayor Elect, Mr. German, is our Baggage Agent and Express Manager at the depot and you undoubtedly know him as he has been in the service here for a number of years. Arnold, who nas been on the City Commission Boardas an appointee, is a confectioner and runs a soft drink establishment in the Nevada Hotel. C. R. Shields is owner and manager of the Arrowhead Garage. A. R. Anderson is owner and conducts the Nevada Meat Market. W, H. Elwell, who was City Commissioner some years ago, is owner and conducts both new and secondhand furniture business here in Las Vegas. Taking it all in all, I think we have a very fair representative Board and I do not believe that any of them are radicals such as we have had for the past two and fouryears. I am enclosing you a clipping of today's Review which is a very good write-up concerning the election. If we had had help to fight the bond issue forty-eight hours before election, it would not have carried; but I never have been able to obtain any cooperation in these local elections and we have to abide by whatever is handed us by the voters. Hoping this will give you the desired information, I amYours very truly, B/H
