63rd FAR WESTERN REGIONAL CONFERENCE REPORT
The 63rd Far Western Regional Conference opened at 8 AM Friday April 17, 1992, with Soror Margaret K. Williams of Mu Zeta Omega presiding. One of the response during the plenary session was given by Soror Margaret Crawford of Thete Theta Omega chapter.
Members of the directorate present were Sorors Mary Shy Scott, Eva Evans, Lynette Munn-Long and Felece Houston. Total registration was 473 graduate sorors, 79 undergraduate, 10 non-sorors and 10 chiIdren.
The position of Regional Director and International Nominating Committee member were two of the items voted on. Those running for Regional Director were Sorors Billie Barrett, current Regional Director Gloria Duncan, Cornelia Owens and Mary King-Quinn. The new Regional Director is Cornelia Owens with Diana Shipley as International Nominating Committee member for the Far Western Region.
Workshops attended were the Graduate Advisors’ Task Force (2) and Membership. The Graduate Advisors Task Force gave requirements for becoming a graduate advisor plus duties and responsibilities. Special note was made that the graduate advisor is a liaison between the graduate chapter and the undergraduate chapter not a member of the undergraduate chapter. Emphasis was also placed on the Graduate Advisors Training Institute that will be held July 17 & 18 during boule All sorors who are graduate advisors plus those seeking to hold the position must be certified. It was noted that graduate chapters were going to have to make the training institute a budget item.
The membership workshop was divided into two groups-graduate and undergraduate with graduate advisors being with the undergraduates. The workshop focus mainly on the problems that undergraduate chapters have had with intake process time frame of two (2) weeks between "Rush' and the actual "Intake Process". No one was getting approval or information from Headquarters or the Regional Director in time to follow
    I
procedures outlined. It was also noted that any persons - graduate or undergraduate - planning on taking part in the intake process must attend the membership intake process workshop. This means that as a graduate member if you are planning on attending the initiation ceremony you must attend the workshop.
The 1993 Regional Conference will be held 6/2 thru 6/6 at Tacoma, Washington.
