ANTHONY CINA, being first duly sworn, deposes and says: That he is Foreman of the LAS VEGAS MORNING SUN, a daily newspaper of general circulation, printed and published at Las Vegas, in the County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the attached was continuously published in said newspaper for a period of two weeks from May 12, 1957 to May 19, 1957 inclusive, being the issues of said newspaper for the following dates, to-wit: May 12, 19, 1957. ORDINANCE NO. 743 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 610 ALSO KNOWN AS THE "SPECIALIZED ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE" BY DELETING THE PROVISIONS REQUIRING AN ANNUAL RENEWAL OF JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN AND ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE CERTI­FICATES; BY MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR A MASTER ELECTRICIAN TO EMPLOY ANY UNLICENSED JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIANS; PROVIDING FOR REVOCATION OF CERTIFICATES; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 14 of Ordinance No. 610 is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 14. LICENSING a) Any person engaged in the business of wiring,, building or installing electrical equipment or appliances or electric signs in the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, state of Nevada, shall first secure an Electrical Contractor's License from the Supervisor of License and Revenue for which a fee of $100 per year shall be charged. Any person desiring to engage in the business of wiring, building, installing, erecting, altering, repairing and/or maintaining electric and/or neon signs only, shall first secure a Neon and/or Electric Sign License from the Supervisor .of License and Revenue for which a fee of $100 a year shall be charged. Before applying for an Electrical Contractor's or Neon and/or Electric Sign License, applicant must first secure a Nevada State Contractor's License. Each Electrical Contractor or Neon and/or Electric Sign License shall expire as of January 31st, following the date of issue and shall be renewed by the Supervisor of License and Revenue upon application by the holders of the license and payment of the required fee at any time within thirty (30) days before the date of such expiration. Each applicant shall furnish a bond of $1,000.00 infavor of the City conditioned that the licensee will comply with the provisions of all ordinances and regulations of the City, rules and regu­lations of the Health Department, and will indemnify the City and all others for any loss sustained by reason of injury or damage to person or property up to the amount of the bond. b) Each and every person working at the trade of installing electrical wiring or electrical appliances, shall possess a valid Certificate of Competency issued by the City of Las Vegas, Nevada. It shall be the duty of the B of EE, or authorized agent, to furnish applications and conduct examinations and issue Certificates of Qualification for journeyman electricians. A Certificate of Qualification shall be issued to any person who makes application for such certificate and pays to the City of Las Vegas the required fee of $5.00 and successfully passes the examination conducted by the B of EE or authorized agent. Every Journeyman's Electrician's Certificate of Qualification shall remain in force and effect indefinitely from date of issue, providing, however, that all such Certificates must be validated yearly by the Department of building and Safety at no cost to the holder. Such validation must be made prior to January 31st of each year. A certificate may be revoked after hearing by the B of EE upon a showing made that the holder thereof is unfit to hood such certificate because of incompetency, wilful violations of this ordinance, and other good cause. Applicants will be notified of the results of his examination with ten (10) days after the examination has been completed. If the applicant fails to pass the examination, he may apply for re-examination at the end of six (6) months. SECTION 2. Section 24 of Ordinance No. 610 is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 24. All applications for Master Electricians examinations shall be made in writing to the building Inspector and must contain the address of the applicant's place of business, or residence, and shall be referred to the Board of Electrical Examiners for investigation and recommendation. The applicant for a Master Electrician's Certificate shall pay to the Department of Building and Safety the sum of $50.00 for said examination and shall be issued such Certificate after successfully passing said examination. Every such Master Electrician's Certificate shall expire December 31st of each year and shall be renewed by paying to the Department of Building and Safety the sum of $15.00 within thirty-one (31) days of such expiration date. Should the holder of a Master Electrician's Certificate fail to renew within thirty-one (31) days but does so within thirty-two (32) to ninety (90) days, the fee shall be doubled. Should he fail to renew within ninety (90) days he must apply for, pay the required fee of $50.00, and pass another examination. There shall be issued by the Board of Electrical Examiners a Master Electrician's Certificate to a person who has shown proper qualifications and paid the proper fee. Said Master Electrician's Certi­ficate shall be issued to the person taking the examination and is non-transferable. AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION
