Jewish Family Service Agency Housing Options for Seniors Title XX Grant Presentation April 1993 In the 9-month period of this Fiscal Year, HOS has served: Housing Options Counseling 138 Title XX-eligible seniors with their housing options (less than $595/month) Total of 729 calls for housing options 9 were homeless at the time, we got them off the streets 55 were disabled 67 (49%) were interested in our HomeSharing program, and 61 (44%) wanted referrals to cheaper apartments. A total fo 381 seniors who called our agency were eligible for subsidized housing; all were told of the subsidized housing system and procedures, and were counseled on an interim plan - a cheaper apartment, perhaps HomeSharing, other state programs they may be eligible for that could help them get by until housing came through. Referrals to the Cannon Senior Center social worker is routine. HomeSharing Placements We received applications from 30 Title XX-eligible clients for our HomeSharing program. 2 were disabled home providers who received live-in assistance A total of 92 HomeShare applicants were eligible for Subsidized Housing; 32 were diverted from that federal program because we placed them in a HomeSharing match. A total of 26 matches so far this year; making a grand total of 118 matches since program inception.
