Sir: - You are hereby advised that authority has been granted for you to expend a sum not exceeding $375.00 in the open market pur­chase of wood for heating and cooking purposes and hay for sub­sistence of school stock; also a further sum not exceeding $31.00 in the open market purchase of l ratchet No. 2, pipe taps, 1 soldering iron and 6 cutter wheels, required for immediate use by engineer, to make necessary repairs to boiler and engines, all at rates and in quantities not to exceed those specified in your estimate of July 7th last. The water back for range has been ordered shipped to you from San Francisco. The purchase of cows for school will be made the subject of another communication.
