£2 —2— Dr. Wm. S. Park was a witness on behalf of Complain-ant, and testified that he was the original subdivider of Park Place Addition and that he still owns some thirty—five acres of said tract which is not yet subdivided. That if said tract had water he felt it would bring about f1,000 an acre, and would thereby increase the assessment value of said acreage. ft was estimated that the cost of running a pipe line from Charleston Boulevard to Mr. Beokley*® property and which would supply the owner© of said Addition now taking water from Boulder Dam Syndicate, would amount to some 1X200,00, Mr. Folger testified on behalf of the Band and Water Company in support of our two defenses to this complaints namely, shortage of water during the summer months, and that the cost of extending the service would not be justified by the prospective return® therefrom. Mr, Folger testified that during the hot summer month®, on account of the enormous waste of water, the Water Company had only sufficient water to take care of its present customers. That this waste was brought on by the Increasing number of airconditioning units now being used in Las vegae, in practically each of which water is allowed to run continuously and the overflow or excess necessary for cool— ing purposes was allowed to waste on the ground ox in the sewer. That we have endeavored to cooperate with the city administration to prevent waste of water, but could get practically no cooperation In the way of ordinances, etc., although the new city administration, which went into Office June l, seemed inclined to be more favorable. Furthermore, that there was very little could be done to conserve water on a flat rat® basis, and that the Statutes of the state prohibited cities of this else from establishing meter®. That in extending the line to Mr. Beckley*® premise®, we could hops for no new service, as a portion of the lot owner® have their own artesian well® which could be pumped if they did not flow and that the other prospective users were now getting their water from Boulder Dam Syndicate,
