9 ?I Las Vegas - July 1, 1942 W-25 Mr. Frank Strong: Confirming our telephone conversation in connect­ion with making allowances for vacancies and hotels. in auto courts Last Wednesday evening a meeting was held in the courthouse by members of the Hotel and Auto Court Owners Association. While we were not present, because this was a private meeting, I learned the question of water rates was one of the topics discussed. There does not seem to be a great amount of dissatisfaction with the rates, but the auto court owners felt that they should be accorded the same rate as hotels, inasmuch as their oper­ations are similar. They state their tenants usually arrive in the evening and are gone by 6 a. m. the follow­ing day, doing no cooking in the.auto courts and, in fact, use less water than the hotels. I do not approve of their proposal as we could not, under the schedule, apply the hotel rate to facilities that were obviously auto courts..
