Franklin T . Hamilton O 'M e lv e n y & Myers 433 South Spring Street Los Angeles 13, California O n repelpt today of your June 3rd letter, the accompanying statement for legal services was turned over tot^Ary Nelson Conway for immediate attention. JusjLyesterday the District had a meeting and arranged for the establishment of various bank accounts for th#fa|)ocation of funds. The mechanics of Hits should be completed within the next few days and a check wijjljl be drawn In favor of O 'M e lv e n y & Myers in the amount of $31,926.74 in payment of services to date per!y^jtir statement dated June 1st, 1954. Upon directing M r. Conway's attention to the second paragraph of your June 3rd letter, he stated that he had already written you about this matter under date of June 3rd) and subsequently I received a carbon is last mentioned communication to you. w appears that the probable date on which the District w ill acquire and take over the Las Vegas Land dter Company facilities is August I. Delays have been encountered in connection with setting up the new rate schedule and arranging for notices to be sent out to a ll of the users. This and related accounting procedures w ill probably make It impossible to arrange for the takeover until sometime after Ju ly I. In mm latter connection, in discussing this matter today with M r. E . E. Bennett on the long distance telephone , he pointed out that if the District could not complete the acquisition by Ju ly I, it would probably h a vf to go over until August I inasmuch as it would not be practicable or feasible to effect the transfer in the middle of a month. Accordingly, the best probable date now appears to be August I instead of Ju ly I as previously anticipated. Although M r. Renshaw has arranged to devote several days each week to District matters, and make trips here for this purpose, he cannot give the District his full time and attention until Ju ly I . That is another reason why it would be extremely inadvisable to undertake acquisition and operation of the facilities as early as Ju ly 1st. Very sincerely yours, LAS V E G A S V A L L E Y WATER DISTRICT By TA C ia b f Thomas A . Cam pbell, President
