PHILIP METTGER Vice-President and Secretary Mr. A1 Freeman Public Relations Director The Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada RICHARD V. WOODRUFF Treasurer BOARD OF DIRECTORS Dear Mr. Freemans RALPH J. BUNCHE TAYLOR COLE JOHN J. CORSON LUTHER GULICK EDWARD H. LITCHFIELD H. PHILIP METTGER OTTO L. NELSON PETER H. ODEGARD JAMES K. POLLOCK Sometime ago, you may recall, we troubled you to lend a hand to Mr. Michel Clerc of France, who was here as a visitor in this country. Mr. Clerc never came to Las Vegas, I know, but none- theless we very much appreciated your kindness in standing by and offering to help him. ROGER H. WELLS EVRON M. KIRKPATRICK V. O. KEY, JR. CONSULTANTS CHARLES AIKIN HAROLD F. ALDERFER GEORGE C. S. BENSON ARTHUR F. BRANDSTATTER CARL H. CHATTERS PAUL T. DAVID CARL J. FRIEDRICH ERNEST S. GRIFFITH A. MILLER HILLHOUSE WALTER H. C. LAVES HARVEY MANSFIELD KEITH L. SEEGMILLER Today I would like to mention to you the forthcoming visit to Las Vegas of a very distinguished man; namely, His Excellency Abol Hasan Ebtehaj, Managing Director of the Seven Year Plan Organization in Iran. Mr. Ebtehaj is in this country in connection with the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, which are being held here this week, and is going to attend the Time-Life International and Stanford Research Institute Economic Development Conference in San Francisco, October lit to 18. In addition, Mr. Ebtehaj will see public work projects, agricultural developments, and industries comparable to those developing in Iran. For this reason he is coming to Las Vegas mainly to see the Hooper Dam., LAURISTON SHARP HARVEY WALKER S. B. ZISMAN His schedule calls for him arriving in Las Vegas at 7*5^ Pacific Standard Time by TWA flight number lit from San Francisco and de- parting Tuesday, October 22, at 7*30 on United Airlines flight number 628. His activities on Monday 21 will be entirely taken up by the Bureau of Reclamation in Las Vegas, whose foreign activities coordinator, Mr. W. J. Williams, will be in charge of Mr. Ebtehaj's plans. The favor I would like to ask of you, Mr. Freeman, is whether it would be possible to have Mr. Ebtehaj picked up at the air- port upon his arrival and brought to the hotel and then again on Tuesday returned to the airport by the hotel. This will be a very mice courtesy to Mr. Ebtehaj, and we would be much in your debt for this kindness. I am afraid that Mr. Ebtehaj probably would prefer not to have publicity attached to his Las Vegas visit. He is an extremely serious and dedicated man, and I am afraid he might be concerned that public attention to his visit in Las Vegas could be mis- interpreted at home as evidence that he was in the States for ffCJ?√ß L ?║
