Have you ever wondered why we misunderstand one another? We speak the same language, we are, or mean to be, good people but almost every day we fail to understand what someone means to say and we either are angered or hurt by someone else. Almost always it is our own fault that we misunderstand or that we are misunderstood. We do not "read the signs." There are many ways to communicate other than by words. Let's list a few: 1. A smile' 2. A pleasant look 3. Courteous behavior *f. Being interested 5 in what others are doing * Doing our work in such a manner that if someone sees ; ’that work a thousand years from now they would say, "That person was a good human." Have you ever considered that the man who built a bridge probably first crossed that stream or canyon on foot and could have continued on his way without all that work? Yes, he very likely received some money for his work but twenty years later when the amount he received is forgotten the real benefit is the pleasure he feels when others can cross that bridge in complete comfort. He is communicating.. He is a happy man because he is telling all who come after him that he is a good human. It is easy for us to know if a person is "a good human." He works because he knows it is one of the best ways to be happy. He always gives more than he receives and he always receives more than he gives 1 We do not need to be a bridge builder in actuality. We can build a bridge into the next thousand years by making ourselves into happy people so that our children and our children’s children can be happy, "good humans."
