Los Angeles - July 15th, 1940 Mr. H. H. Larson: Referring to Mr. Mack's mailgram A-141 July 14th, and returning herewith Mr. Lancaster's mailgram V-52 of July 1st concerning the work of dragline in cleaning channel and spring at Las Vegas, the cost of which was charged to the Las Vegas Land and Water Co. This work was performed because it was evident we would not be able to complete pipe lines which would insure adequate supply of water to the LVL&W Co.'s Ranch and the Stewart Burial Plot during the hot weather. The ditch was filled with rank vegetation. With the greatly increased demand of the City for water and the evapora-tion incident to retarding of the flow, as well as the spreading out of the water in the tule swamp, it appeared certain that we could not furnish sufficient water for those two purposes. The cost is clearly chargeable to the LVL&W Co. Frank Strong CC - Mr. W. R. Bracken Mr. B. Lancaster
