    CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING TO-- VIOLA BURNS, CITY CLERK, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas is hereby called to be held in the Board of Commissioners Room in the City Clerk's office, Monday the 26th day of September, 1938 at the hour of ten o'clock A.M. on said day to consider and act upon the following business: 1. To consider, read and adopt an ordinance to be known as Ordinance No. 243 of the City of Las Vegas, governing the collection of licenses on various businesses in said City. Dated this 26th day of September, 1938. H.P. Marble, Mayor of the City of Las Vegas. NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO— H.P. MARBLE, MAYOR AND TO A.L. CORRADETTI, HERB KRAUSE, H.L. LUCE AND JOE S. RONNOW, COMMISSIONERS: YOU AND EACH OF YOU WILL PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: That pursuant to a call this day issued by the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas will be held in the Board of Commissioners Room in the City Clerk's office, in the City of Las Vegas, on Monday the 26th day of September, 1938 at the hour of ten o'clock A.M. to consider and act upon the following business: 1. To consider and read and adopt an ordinance to be known as Ordinance No. 243 of the City of Las Vegas, governing the collection of licenses on various businesses in said City. You will govern yourselves accordingly. Viola Burns, City Clerk ACCEPTANCE OF SERVICE WE, the undersigned Mayor and Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas hereby admit due service of the foregoing notice of special meeting to be held Monday the 26th day of September, 1938 at the hour of ten o'clock A.M. H.P. Marble Joe S. Ronnow Herb Krause Mayor Commissioner Commissioner A.L. Corradetti Harvey L Luce Commissioner Commissioner OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. SEPTEMBER 26th, 1938. Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, held on the 26th day of September, 1938 at the hour of ten o'clock A.M. Present Mayor Marble, Commissioners Corradetti, Krause, Luce and Ronnow and City Clerk. Absent City Attorney Austin. The Board at once entered into a discussion and reading the proposed license ordinance section by section. At the hour of twelve o'clock noon the work not being completed the meeting recessed until the hour of two o'clock P.M. Present at the hour of two o'clock P.M. Mayor Marble, Commissioners Krause, Corradetti, Luce and Ronnow, and City Clerk. At this time the following entitled Ordinance was read to the Board in its entirety. "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS LICENSING, FOR PURPOSES OF REGULATION AND REVENUE, EVERY KIND OF LAWFUL BUSINESS HEREINAFTER SPECIFIED, TRANSACTED OR CARRIED ON WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, STATE OF NEVADA: FIXING THE RATES OF LICENSE TAX UPON THE SALE AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION OF SAID LICENSE TAX, AND A PUNISHMENT FOR THE CARRYING ON OR CONDUCTING ANY SUCH BUSINESS, WITHOUT A LICENSE, AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NUMBERED 1,2,4,13,14,35, 62, 74,75, 81, 95, 102, 105, 108, 112, 117, 145, 184 and 192." To be know as Ordinance No. 243. Upon its second reading this date it was unanimously adopted as an Emergency Ordinance by the following vote: Commissioners Corradetti, Krause Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor H.P. Marble voting aye. Noes, none. Absent None. thereupon the Clerk was directed to have said Ordinance published in the Las Vegas Re­view Journal a daily newspaper printed and published at Las Vegas, for once a week for two consecutive weeks. On motion of Commissioner Corradetti, seconded by Commissioner Luce it was moved and carried that the Clerk be directed to write the Las Vegas Nevada Chamber of Commerce and the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Las Vegas and inform them at with such an emergency existing the Board felt that it was to the test interest of all concerned to pass at once Ordinance No. 243, but at any time the Board would meet with the members of the two organizations in regard to amending said ordinance and discussing way and means of financing the city's expenses for the immediate future. Vote Commissioners Corradetti, Krause Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting Aye. Noes, none. No further business appearing before the Board the meeting then adjourned
