    32 - METER PARTS, PROM OBSOLETE METERS Certain types of obsolete meters may be torn down to recover interchangeable parts. These parts can be cleaned chemically or otherwise. METERS Meters built prior to the use of temperature compensation that are applicable to modern installation methods may be rebuilt to Include studless glass covers and temperature compensation for classl temperature erro/rs. These meters may be used with standard service enclosure equipment. The retirement of otherwise obsolete meters may be indefinitely deferred by this program. Old type bottom-connected 5 to 25 ampere meters may be converted ,, into socket type meters by using a new base and glass cover, and converting the frame of the old meter into a grid on a lathe, attaching the grid to the new base and re-using and assembling on the grid the magnet, coils, jewels, pivots, disc and register of the old meter. Old 3-wire meters can be rebuilt into 2-wire meters by connecting the current coils in series and substituting a 110 volt potential coil for the old 220 volt potential coil. One register gear should be replaced to obtain the proper register ratio for a 2-wire meter. Meter jewels and pivots - See JEWELS MILLBOARD, ASBESTOS Sheets two feet square or larger may be held for miscellaneous jobs. MOISTENER, GUMMED PAPER May be cleaned and held in storage for general use. MONKEY WRENCH See WRENCH, MONKEY (ADJUSTABLE)
