•> Salt Lake City,Utah, January 7, £98£ /e=?'$ ^ Referring to Mr, Knickerbocker’ s le tte r November 28th, and previous correspondence in regard to repairing wood stave pipe lin e serving ra ilro ad f a c ilit i e s with water at Las Vegas:- We looledthis over together yesterday and decided that very l i t t l e expense would be required to repair the leaks in th is lin e end that there would be nothing to gain by spending money to paint the wood stave pipe or to bury i t in d irt as was f i r s t proposed. You may, therefore, assign a competent man and a laborer to repair these leaks. Some of them w ill have to be patched and the others can be stopped by small wedges each side of the leak to draw the seams together. See that these men are carefu lly instructed to not drive wedges between the staves or to drive plugs into any holes in the staves. Also, you w ill re c a ll there was evidence of a leak in the oast iron pipe at a point near the highway crossing, M s part of the lin e should be opened up and inspected for broken pipe or leaky join ts and repaired. Also, the concrete p it housing the water meter on the 8* lin e leading from the 24* lin e about 2000 f t , above the roundhouse has flood water Indicating a leak in that v ic in ity . This should be investigated and repaired. This w ill be your authority to start th is work at once and fin ish i t up In January, CC— Mr, F, H* Knickerbocker E H P :B B . 1933
