Las Vegas, Nevada January 22, 1957 (CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING) A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada held this 22nd day of January, 1937 was called to order at the hour of 3:00 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with the following members present: Mayor C. D. Baker Commissioner Wendell Bunker Commissioner E. W. Fountain Commissioner Harris P. Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager A. H. Kennedy City Attorney Howard W. Cannon Planning Director Franklin J. Bills City Engineer George E. Wade City Clerk Shirley Ballinger An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 568 AND 712; TO REGULATE AND CONTROL THE POSTING OF RATES OF HOTELS, INNS, MOTELS, MOTOR COURTS AND BOARD AND LODGING- HOUSES WITH THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; TO REGULATE AND CONTROL THE POSTING AND MAINTAINING OF OUTSIDE ADVERTISING SIGNS OF MOTELS, MOTOR COURTS, HOTELS AND LIKE ESTABLISHMENTS; PROVID­ING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, was reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Sharp. Commissioner Sharp stated that he would like the record to show that 91% of the motel operators are in favor of this ordinance. His Honor asked if there were any objections to this ordinance. None were voiced. Thereafter the ordinance was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 731 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 7, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 728, BY PROHIBITING THE PLACING OF WRITTEN ADVERTISEMENTS UPON STRUCTURES ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY; PROVIDING CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS THERETO; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commi­ssioners Fountain and Whipple, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Fountain moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 732 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION V OF ORDINANCE 688, DEALING WITH THE SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS BY PROVIDING THE LOCATION WHERE TAVERNS MAY BE MAINTAINED; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Sharp, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Sharp moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 733 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, Commissioner Sharp moved this meeting adjourn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
