Commissioner LURIE raps with Las Vegas fire personnel. LURIE says. The open door policy I have adopted with the people of our city includes city employees as well. We may not always agree, but we can always talk." Commissioner LURIE discusses the crime situation with a Metro police officer. LURIE says. "Metro must be given a chance to work and must be supported by the people. I have, as a Metro Police Commissioner, been seeking more comprehensive cover?age for our city residents and mer?chants." Commissioner LURIE discusses a problem with a Las Vegas resident. LURIE says, "My phone number is listed in the book and as a part time commissioner I have maintained a line of communications with the people. As a full time mayor, I will continue to pursue this open door policy." Commissioner LURIE talks about park problems with a group of Las Vegans. LURIE says. "I have requested an ordinance which would have developers of housing tracts, mobile home lots, and apartments, pay a park fee which would assure the city of more residential parks in all neighborhoods " Believe in Lurie.Lurie for Major.Lurie on Fiscal Policy Lurie has led the fight to cut down on government spending and waste. Lurie says, ?We must cut down and tighten up, or face serious consequences.? on Recreation Lurie has put a municipal indoor swimming pool at the top of the recreation program. Lurie says, ?As a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Commissioner I have included in the new police budget allocations for parks patrol and security by the police.? on Transportation on Consolidation and Annexation Lurie says, ?I am not in favor of any plan which does not include giving the people their choice known by ballot.? on Pornography Lurie has led the fight against the operators of pornographic businesses within the City of Las Vegas. Lurie says, ?I do not want a red line ? I just want them out completely ? which is in accordance with the wishes of the majority of Las Vegans.? on Planning and Zoning Lurie has always fought for adherence to proper planning and zoning. Lurie says, ?Now that the master plan has been updated I have introduced three ordinances which will protect the people from further rape of the master plan by selfish interests.? on Energy Lurie introduced the city?s insulation ordinance. Lurie says, ?All new construction of homes and apartments must now be insulated to meet the most rigid standards.? Lurie, a member of the mass transportation study committee, favors a county-wide mass transportation system operated by an independent transportation board. on Public Utilities Lurie has demanded that the city attorney actively fight endless requests by public utilities for rate increases. Lurie says, ?I want a study to determine the feasibility of municipal take-over of public utilities, and will not vote for any long term franchises.? on Senior Citizens and Youth Lurie has always been active in promoting activities and facilities for senior citizens and youth. Lurie says, ?We owe to our senior citizens an all out effort to provide them with programs and facilities which will make their lives richer and fuller. We owe our youth the opportunity to develop into outstanding, concerned adult citizens. We can provide this opportunity by listening to their problems and caring enough to try finding the correct solutions.? Believe in Lurie.
