During my campaign, I promised my constituents to help improve communication to the student body. In an effort to fulfill my promise, I am proposing the following amendment to Bylaw 80. This amendment will help strengthen communication between CSUN and the students. My amendment will require the CSUN marketing team to personally speak in at least (5) classes a week to keep students abreast on what CSUN is doing. Currently, all CSUN members are required to speak in at least (2) classes a semester, but this has not been enough, we need to do more. Not only will my amendment strengthen communication, it will also benefit the Marketing Director and the Board. Going into class rooms and giving presentations will provide experience for students who are interested in the field of marketing. Not only will it build their speaking skills, it will give them an opportunity to listen and learn what students are saying about CSUN. I know this will not completely solve all of our communicating problems, but it is a good start. We, the Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, represented in the CSUN Senate, do enact as follows: SENATE BYLAW 80 CSUN Director of Marketing (Effective: June 28, 2004) III. Duties, Powers, and Responsibilities A. The Director 1. The duties of the Director shall be those described in Article IX, Section D, of the CSUN Constitution. 2. To coordinate and assist the Marketing team with reporting to at least (5) classes a week on campus B. The Assistant Director 1. The duties of the Assistant Director shall be those described in Article IX, Section E, of the CSUN Constitution. C. The Marketing Team Consolidated Students University of Nevada-Las Vegas 4505 Maryland Parkway Las Vegas, Nevada 89154-2009 (702) 895-3645 Fax (702) 895-4606 S T U D E N T G O V E R N M E N T 1. To assist the Director of Marketing in the design and distribution of advertising materials; 2. To report to at least (5) classes a week on campus of upcoming CSUN events and services; 3. To provide the OSI with an updated list of events and student activities to be updated on the UNLV/CSUN.com website. Consolidated Students University of Nevada-Las Vegas 4505 Maryland Parkway Las Vegas, Nevada 89154-2009 (702) 895-3645 Fax (702) 895-4606 S T U D E N T G O V E R N M E N T Senate Bill No. 11 Attachment 36.16.02 Of the 36th Session Proposed Constitutional Ammendment to Article II: Membership and Fees INTRODUCED BY: Senator Maxson Summary: This Bill stipulates that we shall collect five percent of fees from each undergraduate student at UNLV who are taking one credit or more, instead of seven credits or more. This is because our programs benefit all undergraduate students (i.e.UNLV/CSUN preschool) not just those who are taking seven credits or more. Precedence for this is shown at UNR ASUN who's constitution stipulates the same as this amendment would. We the Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, represented in the CSUN Senate do enact as follows: All matriculated undergraduate students of UNLV, upon payment of registration fees, shall be members of CSUN until the beginning of the following semester. A CSUN fee, approved by the Board of Regents, not less than five per cent of the per credit fee, shall be collected for each undergraduate student of UNLV taking one credit [seven credits] or more.
