    Miss. Mary E. Syphus;

    Panaca Nev,
    line
    4
    Dear Mary,-
    felt
    line
    5
I do so wish I fetl like
    line
    6
writing for I know I could
    line
    7
write a long letter if I was not
    line
    8
so lazy. I do so wish
    line
    9
I was there to day for it has
    line
    10
    seemed so long down here.
    line
    11
    I am compeletly worn out
    line
    12
from the Fourth or the good time
    line
    13
I had on that day. I participated
    line
    14
to freely in jumping and runing
    line
    15
and consequently I have found it
    line
    16
very hard work to walk let alone
    line
    17
work since that time. The folk try
    line
    18
to blame my soreness to something
    line
    19
else but I am quite sure they
    line
    20
    are mistaken.
    line 21
I was very sorry to learn you so expected me on the Fourth but it has been imposible for me to leave thus far. one of the horses has been lame for about three weeks and for that and other reasons I am way behind with my calculations. I recd the bill all right and was very pleased to get it, also pleased with it.
I havent been able to send it off yet as the money is late coming.
I suppose I may first as well tell you the arrangements I made with mama in regards to the cloths She said she thought she could make or get the apron made If she did not have time to make some for us she had one she was going to make for herself and Viola had one to make so we could get them. In regard to you making the cloths it will be all right with her, she said she
    would gladly do anything she
could but if you felt as though you
would just as soon do it it

    line 6
I am going to plant some corn
    line 7
this coming week and cut my hay
    line 8
and if good luck is mine I

will try and start up as soon as

    Harry gets here.
    line 11
Elen is writing to you so
    line 12
there will be no need of me
    line 13
writing very much for she will
    line 14
    tell you all the news
    line 15
My dear Mary I feel very
    line 16
    much discouraged and low
    line 17
spirited for some reason to know
    line 18
not what, but I know it is
    line 19
not because of any of our plans
    line 20
for they are the only hope I can
    line 21
cherish. How I wish you were
    line 22
here to cheer me up a little for I
    line 23
    hate to feel so miserable
    line 24
It is getting choir time and I
    Page 4 line 1
am about written out so you will
    line 2
    excuse me this time.
    line 3
    Write soon, and will expect
    line 4
to hear from you before I
    line 5
    leave here I remain as
    line 6
