Bennett: Replying to your letter of February 17th, 19^9> concerning a suggested amendment to our condemnation statute giving the Public Service Commission authority to fix the issue of damages, I have been waiting to receive word from you to go ahead with this matter before submitting to to Bay Marks for delivery to a member of the legislature who will introduce it. statute is desirable upon the ground that the Public Service Commission is better informed and better equipped to fix the amount of damages resulting to a public utility than a cmndem-natiom proceeding. I do not believe however that there is any chance of obtaining passage of such a bill. I say this for the reason that the Public Service Commission of Nevada has now pending at least five or six bills effecting its authority and expanding its functions and a rumor in the corridors is that the Commission is grasping too much power and authority. the week end at home and will be at the 11 Ranch otel in Car a City. If you desire to have such a bill offered, kindly advise me and I will immediately prepare one and deliver the same to Ray fferks.
