Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker and Commissioner Bunker. Mr. George H. Rounthwaite presented the request of Dale Davis and Don Park, evangelists of the Church of God, to hold street revival meetings on Fremont Street from May 19th to May 21st in the evenings. Discussion followed and the City Manager was instructed to notify Messrs. Davis and Park that the Commission felt such a use of Fremont Street would be apt to cause a traffic hazard but that they were welcome to use the City Park for these meetings. Commissioner Jarrett moved that the following gaming applications for additional license for the second quarter of 1955 be approved: HORSESHOE CLUB Eldorado Club, Inc. by H. E. Dorsett 128 Fremont 14 slots OVERLAND ARCADE W. H. Adams 4 Fremont 1 slot TWIN LAKES LODGE By: Lloyd L. St. John Tonopah Hwy. 1 slot Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker and Commissioner Bunker. Consideration of the Board was given to the gaming, liquor and cigarette applications of the Moulin Rouge, 900 Bonanza Road. Since a full Board was not present, it was decided to consider these applications at a special meeting on May 23, 1955, at 4:30 P.M. Commissioner Sharp moved that the request of Irving S. Quale dba Square Deal Loan Company, 118 North 1st Street, to add a partner on the license for his pawnshop business, Morris Fix, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker and Commissioner Bunker. Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple, committee for recommendation on the proposed amendment to the liquor ordinance, requested additional time before reporting. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 5, CHAPTER 13, AND SECTION 4, CHAPTER 16, OF THE CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY DEFINING DISTRICTS WHERE GAMBLING MAY BE CONDUCTED AND WHERE TAVERNS MAY BE LOCATED; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THERE­WITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Sharp and Whipple, was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Sharp moved that this Ordinance No. 645 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker and Commissioner Bunker. Commissioner Sharp, member of the committee for recommendation on the proposed Parking Lot Rate Posting Ordinance, requested additional time before reporting. At this time a proposed annexation ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO, AND MAKING A PART OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CERTAIN SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED TERRITORY ADJOINING AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; DECLARING SAID TERRITORY AND INHABITANTS TO BE ANNEXED THERETO AND SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND ORDINANCES; ORDERING A PLAT SHOWING SAID TERRITORY TO BE RECORDED IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF THE COUNTY OF CLARK, STATE OF NEVADA; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Sharp for recommendation. At this time a proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT AMENDMENTS TO ORDINANCE NO. 610, KNOWN AS THE SPECIALIZED ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BY PROVID­ING STANDARDS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND WIRING, METALLIC RACEWAYS, SERVICES AND GROUNDING, AND BRANCH CIRCUIT REQUIREMENTS, PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF OWNER'S PERMITS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Sharp for recommendation. At this time a proposed amendment to the animal ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 521 BY PROVIDING REGULATIONS ON THE SELLING OR GIVING AWAY CERTAIN ANIMALS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY POUNDKEEPER TO ADOPT PET SHOP REGULATIONS; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO KILL BIRDS; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Sharp and Whipple for recommendation. 5-18-55
