Meeting minutes for first meeting of the Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada, August 22, 2000

August 22, 2000 The first meeting of the board for The Holocaust Survivors organization was held at the home of David & Mira Berkovitz. At 7:05 p.m. the meeting was called to order by our host David Berkovitz. Everyone introduced themselves. There were 14 members at the meeting. On August 27, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. a meeting will be held at the new Beth Shalom Temple to discuss the separation from J.C.C. At this time it will be put to a vote, and we will ask for volunteers for back-up board members. All members have received a notice of this very important meeting. David Berkovitz, as head of the nomination committee, called for nominations for the Board of Directors and they are as follows: David Berkovitz Gina Klonoff Lydia Lebovic Henry Kronberg David Aviv Pola Zimmerman Ben Lesser Perry Oehlbaum Naomi Phillips Alex Kuechel The following were nominated for officers: President Henry Schuster Co- President Anita Schuster Vice Presidents Harold Blitzer George Guzik Recording Secy Ludwig Bauer (minuets) Corresponding Secy Mira Berkovitz (notices & chronicle) Jodi Guzik (notices & chronicle) Treasurer Jean Lesser (bookkeeping) A checking account will be opened and will require 2 signatures for writing checks. We also discussed a change of name for the group. Harold Blitzer will follow through to get the charter. The duties of the vice presidents will be to give a helping hand to the president. Dues were discussed and the new dues will be $25.00 per person per year ($50.00 per couple.) Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 for coffee and goodies.
