I agree.October 18, W 2>1 w 23-1-0 Hon. E. W. Cragln Mayor of Las Vegas Mb '- Vegas, Hevada Otar Hr. Graglns Your letter of August 2*» regarding extension of water service south of the City Halts for fire protection to the resort hotels on South fifth Street! He had previously eohsldered a request for Wat r service to these locations, but In view of the fire protection possibilities, I again submitted the proposal to our offloials. Our position la that we oannot undertake to provide facilities or furnish service outside of the" City Halts. We feel that our first obligation Is to supply the people within the 01 ty and If we set a precedent by supplying water outside the llalta it Is quite possible, fro® what we know of the artesian supply, that suoh a policy would reaot to the detriment of the City, In th t there unquestionably is not sufficient water In the artesian channel to adequately supply both the 01ty and applicants outside the City. Regret that we cannot conform to'the request, but trust that you will recognize the fairness of our position. Very truly yours, Oeneral Manager
