City Attorney Cannon advised the Commission that a bus belonging to Vegas Transit Lines had run into a fire truck at 5th and Stewart on March 12, 1954. He stated that demand had been made on Vegas Transit and they had requested that the City hold off a settle­ment until they had settled the personal injuries involved. Mr. Cannon stated that no settlement has been made and that the statute of limitations is about to run out. He requested that he be given authorization to file suit against Vegas Transit Lines to recover the amount of the loss which is approximately $900.00. Commissioner Bunker moved the City Attorney be authorized to file suit against Vegas Transit Lines to recover the damages to the fire truck. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commis­sioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 521, DEALING WITH THE ES­TABLISHMENT OF A PUBLIC POUND IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE OPERATION THEREOF BY THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR FEES FOR SERVICES PERFORMED BY THE POUNDKEEPER; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Com­missioners Fountain and Sharp, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Fountain moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 736 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commis­sioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 700 ALSO KNOWN AS THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE BY DELETING THE PROVISIONS REQUIRING AN ANNUAL RENEWAL OF JOURNEYMAN PLUMBERS CERTIFICATES OF COMPETENCY; BY MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR A PLUMBING CONTRACTOR TO EMPLOY UNLICENSED JOURNEYMAN PLUMBERS; BY PERMITTING GAS UTILITIES TO SECURE PERMITS TO DO CERTAIN WORK; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Whipple for recommendation. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 610 ALSO KNOWN AS THE "SPECIALIZED ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE" BY DELETING THE PROVISIONS REQUIRING AN ANNUAL RENEWAL OF JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN AND ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE CERTIFICATES; BY MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR A MASTER ELECTRICIAN TO EMPLOY ANY UNLICENSED JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIANS; PROVIDING FOR REVOCATION OF CERTIFICATES; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Whipple for recommendation. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE WARM AIR HEATING CODE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 607 AND AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 672, BY DELETING PROVISIONS REQUIRING AN ANNUAL RENEWAL OF WARM AIR HEATING INSTALLERS CERTI­FICATES OF COMPETENCY; PROVIDING FOR RENEWALS OF CERTIFICATES; BY MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR A WARM AIR HEATING CONTRACTOR TO EMPLOY ANY UNLICENSED WARM AIR HEATING INSTALLERS PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR TEE VIOLATION THEREOF, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Whipple for recommendation. City Manager Kennedy advised the Commission that the Nevada Southern Gas Company is merging with the Southwest Gas Corporation, and have requested transfer of the Gas Franchise they have with the City from Nevada Southern Gas Company to the Southwest Gas Corporation.
