ft Mr. Robert A. Allen Page 2 Sept. 14, 1951 Frankly, under the circumstances, Z do not think the Water Company will make any further attempts to “pull the chestnuts out of the fire* for the Inhabitant b of Las Vegas. We have received *llp service* from many of the representative citizens of Las Vegas and from many of their civic organizations, that meters are essential to conserve water. We have had testimony introduced by some of the officials of the City of Las Vegas In i; roceedlngs before your Honorable Body that meters are the only solution yet, ’when it comes to a show-down, we have never, as 1 have stated, received any help from the Clark County delegation. Frankly, unless the Public Service Commission or the State Engineer decide to introduce such a bill, or to have such a bill introduced, in order to conserve water in Las Vegas, I would not recommend that our people make any further attempts so to do. However, I do appreciate your offer of cooperation In our mutual attempts to make the people of Las Vegas realize the seriousness of the water situation in Las Vegas and If you do not think that situation will be serious next summer, Z respectfully suggest, for your consideration, a study of the Snow Surveys of the Federal-State Cooperative Snow Surveys and Irrigation Water Forecasts for Nevada, especially those of March 1st and April 1, 195© and March 1st and April 1st, 1951. As you know, Mr. Clyde E. Houston, Irrigation Engineer, at Reno, Nevada, has these reports and he was kind enough to send me copies thereof. Very truly yours
